He is in a stable condition in the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.
Scotland Yard said that Michael Hamill, 35, a council worker, of Parnell Road, Bow, east London, will appear before magistrates at Bow today charged with conspiracy to rob. One of the two men arrested at the Flying Scud public house was still being questioned by police last night.
