This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

A Hollywood film director has put his Knightsbridge home, featuring hand painted images of dictators, on the rental market for £35,000 a month.

The five bedroom and five bathroom home in London’s Brompton Square is not only extravagant in size but also its décor, with murals of infamous dictators scattered throughout the home.

One bathroom includes an image of dictator Saddam Hussein in the shower while Chairman Mao appears in another bathroom and living area.

Russian ruler Lenin features in multiple paintings and busts as well as on cushions alongside his successor Stalin.

The eccentric features continue with a life-size wax figure of Pope Jean Paul II under the stairs and another living space has a stuffed zebra as its centre-piece.

Roland Emmerich, director of blockbuster hits Independence Day, Godzilla and Stargate, is the owner of the property and is offering it for a short-let at £8,000 per week, which includes bills and wifi.

The 4551sq ft property also features a desk made from the wing of a Second World War Dakota plane, curtains made from 150-year-old wedding dresses and hand painted art on many of the walls.

Daniel Bickerdike, lettings manager at Kinleigh, Folkard & Hayward in South Kensington, said: “The opportunity to live in such a unique home doesn’t come around very often.

“From the murals and ornaments inspired by figures from world history to Pope Jean Paul II sitting in the under-stairs cupboard, residents will be equally challenged, fascinated and entertained by the décor throughout this property.”
