From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Four men have been charged with the murder of 22-year-old Tyrese Miller in southwest London on April 4.

Police were called in the early hours of the morning to reports of an injured man on Croydon Road, near the junction with Beddington Lane in Mitcham.

Metropolitan Police say Mr Miller died on the scene shortly after emergency services arrived, with a post-mortem performed the next day finding his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

Manuel Paulo, 19, of Garrett Lane, Kavaun Morrison, 18, of Swain Close, Armani McClymont, 20 of Camden Way, Thornton Heath and Denzel Kwateng, 20 of Parkway, New Addington, have all been charged over his death.

They have all been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and will appear in Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
