Peter Grenfell, who was with the triple killer Nicholas Vernage when he murdered Police Sergeant Alan King, was sent to Rampton top security hospital by an Old Bailey judge yesterday. Grenfell, 29, of Leyton, east London, had been cleared of the murder of Sgt King, but guilty of unlawful wounding of two other officers. Yesterday the court was told that Grenfell was mentally ill and still needed treatment.
