A woman dumped by the side of a road after being seriously injured in a car crash died today, police said.

The 45-year-old woman was a passenger in a Vauxhall car when it collided with flat-bed van in Hen Lane, Holbrooks, Coventry on Saturday.

Following the crash, the car driver took the injured woman out of the vehicle and left her on the pavement in nearby Whitmore Park Road before driving off, West Midlands Police said.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested in Warwickshire in connection with the incident.

The 28-year-old has been bailed pending further inquiries and the 27-year-old remains in custody.

A vehicle has been recovered in connection with the incident.
