A woman passenger died after a coach carrying French tourists crashed on the busy M40 motorway today.
Police said it was in collision with a lorry and recovery vehicle on the hard shoulder north-bound between junctions six and seven, near Stokenchurch, Bucks.
At least two people were seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.
Emergency services said there were other casualties, although the exact numbers and the extent of the injuries have not yet been fully ascertained.
The coach was the 11.10am service from Terminal Four at Heathrow Airport to Oxford. It was due to arrive in Oxford at 12.40pm.
A spokesman for the Oxfordshire Ambulance Service said eight ambulances had been sent to the scene along with two air ambulances containing paramedics.
