A car hit a tree in Selly Oak, Birmingham at about 4pm on Thursday and police attended the scene.
Witnesses and paramedics provided CPR to the young girl, who was on the back seat of the car at the time of the collision, but she was pronounced dead at hospital.
The other four passengers in the vehicle, including the mother, sustained minor injuries.
A post mortem examination will take place to determine the nature of the death.
