Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

With Christmas less than four days away, many people may find themselves heading online to Amazon to complete their shopping.

But bear in mind Amazon's ordering cut-off dates – the Free Delivery option has already expired - to avoid being disappointed come Friday.

Here is everything you need to know:

21 December – Order by today to be eligible for standard delivery or standard pickup. The order should arrive one to two business days later.

23 December – Order by Wednesday for one-day delivery.

23 December – Order by Wednesday for express delivery. Your items should arrive by 1pm the following day.

24 December – Order by noon on Christmas Eve in London, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh for same-day delivery. Your item should be with you by 10pm.

24 December – If you are a Prime member, order by 9:45pm on Christmas Eve in London and selected other postcodes to get your items by midnight.

But remember that last orders may be different depending on the item and delivery address.

Amazon believes Christmas Day will its busiest day for shopping, with orders expected to peak at 8:52pm. Sales on 25 December have grown six-fold over the past five years.

Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Video EU, said digital streaming and downloads are also popular because "of the number of new devices that are given as gifts".
