From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The accident occurred at around 9.30am close to the Fosseway Golf Club in Midsomer Norton, near Bath, in Somerset.
It is not believed any other aircraft was involved in the incident and no one on the ground was injured, Avon and Somerset Police said.
Emergency services were alerted to the accident at 9.47am.
"A hot air balloon crashed with two fatalities, a man and a woman," a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said.
He added: "No other aircraft and no one on the ground was involved in the incident."
An investigation was launched by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, with a team of experts making their way to the scene.
Fosseway Golf Club said the balloon came down on grounds close to the nine hole course.
"We do not have any more information than that," a spokeswoman for the centre said.
