From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Euan Blair, 29, and Suzanne Ashman, 25, tied the knot at All Saints parish church in Wotton Underwood, before leaving in a black taxi cab to attend a reception in the grounds of the Grade-I listed mansion.
Despite Euan being raised a Catholic, and his father converting to the religion, the ceremony took place in an Anglican church.
Before the wedding, Mr Blair was seen outside the chapel holding his son's face in his hands and kissing him on the cheek.
He said later: "It is a very happy day. We are grateful to have such a wonderful daughter-in-law."
The groom wore a blue suit and white carnation, while the bride choose an oyster cream lace dress.
Cherie Blair said of her son: "Didn’t my boy look amazing!"
After the ceremony, guests attended a reception in a marquee in the gardens of the family's 17th-century house, which they bought for £5.75m in 2008.
The couple have been dating for eight years, having been introduced by former Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon while Miss Ashman was completing work experience with him.
Miss Ashman attended the private St Paul's Girls' school in London before reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Trinity College, Oxford. She has worked at Tony Blair’s Faith Foundation.
After working for American bank Morgan Stanley, Euan took a job with a Coventry firm that forms part of the Government's Work Programme. Some commentators have said this is an indication he plans to pursue a career in politics.
The couple bought a house together in Islington, North London last year and got engaged at Christmas.
