Mother and daughter were both in good health, following the birth of the royal princess at 8.34 am yesterday morning, the Palace has said.
The Duke of Cambridge was present at the birth and went to collect Prince George to bring him to the hospital to meet his new sister yesterday afternoon.

He spoke of his joy following the birth earlier in the day, telling the waiting press he was "very happy".
The Duke's father, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall are said to be "absolutely delighted" with the news.
Prince William's uncle Earl Spencer has also reacted to the birth, declaring: "It's wonderful news – we are thrilled for all four of them."
Tower Bridge and other landmarks were illuminated in pink on Saturday night to mark the birth and further celebrations, including Gun salutes, which are to be fired in the baby's honour on Bank Holiday Monday in Hyde Park and at the Tower of London are planned.
The Cambridges will spend the next few days at the palace and are expected to travel to Anmer Hall, their country home on the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk, shortly.
The focus now moves to the baby’s name – Ladbrokes has Alice at 7/4, with Charlotte at 3/1 and Victoria at 5/1.
Further down the list are Alexandrina at 25/1 and Margaret and Mary, also at 25/1.
