From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A mother-of-three was applauded for her Question Time contribution to the row as to whether it is appropriate for parents to drop their children off at school while wearing pyjamas.
The audience member explained her stance when the issue was raised during the BBC show, following a school in Darlington's request that parents stop dropping off pupils in their nightwear.
The school has claimed some parents have even turned up to assemblies and student meetings in dressing gowns and slippers.
Presenter David Dimbleby asked members of the Question time panel about their thoughts on "where and when is it most appropriate to wear your pyjamas".
After their light-hearted replies, he opened the question to any mothers in the audience to which one woman replied: "I've got three kids under six and I think its perfectly acceptable to go to the school in your pyjamas.
"Trust me by the time you get there, sometimes, you've no idea what you're wearing."
Amid hearty applause from the audience, Dimbleby then asked her: "Would you go to the nativity play and the parents evening in the [your pyjamas]..."
She responded: "They might have thought it was fancy dress, who knows."
