Your support makes all the difference.A gambler today broke records by claiming the largest amount won from a British bookmaker after winning more than £2m on an online fruit machine.
The winner, a 49-year-old computer engineer from Portsmouth, Hants, won his £2,086,585 prize using a free bet on the Coral MegaJackpots Cluedo game.
The prize money had been rolling over for a year when the lucky winner, who has asked to remain anonymous, matched five symbols on the internet game.
The game is an online slot machine, with the traditional symbols of cherries and bells replaced by characters from the Cluedo board game, such as Colonel Mustard and Miss Scarlett.
Players can stake between 2p and £5 a line.
It is understood that the winner, who placed a 50p bet on 12 November, had only just opened an account with the bookmakers with an offer to receive £10 in free bets when he made a deposit of £10.
Coral spokesman David Stevens said: "This jackpot game is played by people all over the world and the prize fund had built up to this record-breaking amount.
"We're delighted a coral.co.uk customer has scooped the lot. For one person at least, the credit crunch is no longer an issue."
He added that it was the single biggest prize ever won from a British bookmaker.
