Royal news live: Prince Harry ‘fears bringing Meghan and children’ to UK after taxpayer-funded security cut

Harry ‘cannot guarantee family’s safety’

Princess Anne recalls the moment she survived a kidnapping attempt

The Duke of Sussex reportedly fears bringing his two young children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the UK amid his ongoing legal concerns.

Harry, 39, is continuing to fight for taxpayer-funding security when he does visit the UK, despite no longer being a working royal.

GB News’s royal correspondent Cameron Walker said: “He doesn’t feel his family is safe when they’re in the UK because they do not have police protection officers with the Metropolitan Police with him.

“So perhaps that is the main reason why Prince Harry isn’t bringing Meghan and Archie and Lilibet over to the UK because he can’t guarantee, he would say he can’t guarantee their safety.”

It comes as Princess Anne was forced to cancel her visit to Canada tomorrow after she sustained a concussion after being kicked by a horse on her Gloucestershire estate.

The Princess Royal, 73, was due to make the trip overseas to mark the 100th anniversary of the National War Memorial in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

However, following her concussion and minor injuries, she was hospitalised in Bristol for five nights, but has since returned home.

‘Party-goer’ Prince Harry and ‘outsider’ Meghan Markle depicted in new Royal portraits

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been reimagined as famous historical royals by the youngest artist ever to paint the late Queen Elizabeth.

But the abstract paintings, which depict Prince Harry as Bonnie Prince Charlie and Meghan Markle as Dame Elizabeth Grey, have received a strong reaction online.

One commentator on X, formerly Twitter, admits to having fallen to the floor laughing upon seeing the portraits, while a second likened the abstract works to the new, red portrait of King Charles.

Travis Kelce admits he didn’t know whether to bow to Prince William

Travis Kelce has admitted he wasn’t completely sure how to handle meeting members of the royal family.

During the most recent episode of the Kansas City Chiefs player and his brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the pair opened up about what it was like to attend Taylor Swift’s shows in London at Wembley Stadium and meeting the Prince of Wales at one of them.

“He was there with little George and Charlotte,” Travis said, referring to the two oldest children William shares with the Princess of Wales. His wife, Kate Middleton, and his youngest son, Prince Louis, were not there.

Wimbledon officials ‘hopeful’ of Kate Middleton appearance

Wimbledon officials have said they are “hopeful” of a potential appearance from the Princess of Wales at next month’s tournament.

Kate, 42, is the chair of the All England Club and typically presents trophies at the prestigious tennis event.

As she made her return to public life earlier this month, the princess, who is battling cancer, said she hopes to attend “a few public engagements over the summer.”

Club Chair Debbie Jevans told Telegraph Sport: “We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority. We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is that we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.

“I don’t know who would present the trophies as an alternative – that’s something to consider nearer the time if necessary. We’re staying flexible. ‘When we hear we’ll then think about what’s the right thing to do.”

King Charles makes Pokemon reference during Japanese state banquet speech

King Charles III made a Pokemon reference during a state banquet held in honour of the visiting emperor and empress of Japan.

The close bond between the two nations was praised by the King in a speech, with Charles telling Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako their “shared values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law” were more important than ever.

He also joked that he hasn’t had “any better luck” with more recent attempts at fishing - referencing the time they spent fly fishing when they were younger.

“The Pokemon phrase ‘gotta catch ’em all’ may resonate with my grandchildren, but for me it is, perhaps, aspirational,” Charles said.
