Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Fears are growing over the safety of a 16-year-old girl and a 51-year-old man who have been missing for a week, whom police described as “high risk”.
Kaylie Hatton went missing in the early hours of last Saturday, after she climbed out of a window at her grandmother’s house in Sidcup, Kent following an argument.
It is believed Kaylie is in the company of a man called Fred Finch.
Detective Sergeant Graham Scott classified the pair as “high risk” and said: “We have had some unconfirmed sightings over the past week and we think they might be using swimming pools and leisure centres to grab a shower.”
The pair have also been seen on a bus near Dartford in south London.
“The last proof of life we have got is Sunday night between 4pm and 8pm at a friend's address,” Mr Scott said.
Kaylie is described as “distinctive” with long blonde hair, which could have been dyed black, and could pass for 21. She was last seen wearing a white top, with a gold chain, black leggings and tan Timberland boots.
Mr Finch, who is from Eltham in southeast London, is described as a white man with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a black jacket and jeans and black Nike trainers.
Anyone who any information on the pair’s whereabouts should call the police on 101.
