From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. A mother who went missing from hospital a day after giving birth to her son has been found.

Anna Chudy, 35, left Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, north-west London, with a man on Friday morning.

She had given birth to a baby son by caesarean section just before 4am on Thursday.

Police released images of Ms Chudy in a bid to trace the new mother and ensure she was safe.

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: "Anna Chudy was found safe and well in the early hours of Sunday, 18 October.

"We thank the media and the public for their assistance."
