Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were dispatched to the fire, which broke out near platform 10.
A spokesman for National Rail said the fire was reported at 10.48am.
London Fire Brigade were called to reports of a small fire on the tracks at Moorgate train station at 10.49am.
Moorgate Tube station was reopened around 11.30am.
Disruption at Moorgate rail station is expected until 3pm.
The cause of the fire is currently unclear.
Earlier in the morning, Moorgate Tube station was closed because of escalator problems.
