From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Newlyweds Ben and Caroline Davies set off on a country camping trip from British Columbia and had not contacted relatives since June 22.
They were due to return to Vancouver on July 4, and were reported missing six days later.
Canadian police in Smithers said: "The couple were apparently enjoying their vacation, unaware that they had been reported missing."
The black pick-up truck they had borrowed from relatives was spotted by an officer in Lillooet, and police confirmed yesterday that the couple were safe.
Sergeant Rob Vermeulen said: "We thank the public, and our many community partners like conservation officers and park rangers, that assisted in looking for this couple and passing along information.
"We are pleased the couple have been located safe and sound and this is the outcome we were all hoping for."
The couple were described as "experienced outdoorsmen" and had been heading towards Alaska when they set off on their trip.
Mr Davies, 37, and his wife, 28, are from near Leintwardine in Herefordshire.
