Mother of Manchester attack victim Olivia Campbell breaks down during vigil

The mother of a teenage girl who died in the Manchester bombing broke down at a vigil held for victims of the terrorist attack.

Charlotte Campbell, whose 15-year-old daughter Olivia was among the 22 people killed as they left an Ariana Grande concert, had to be supported by her partner Paul Hodgson as she wept.

Ms Campbell had previously thanked the crowd who gathered to remember her child in Bury, Greater Manchester.

“I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for us, for being here, for giving us your support, for sharing her everywhere”, she said, adding that she “had to come” despite it being “such a hard time for us”.

The family initially appealed for information on Olivia’s whereabouts after the teenager failed to return home from the concert.

In an emotional plea Ms Campbell told ITV News: “I can’t get through to her. I’ve called the hospitals, I’ve called all the places, the hotels where people say that children have been taken.”

She later found out her daughter had been killed by a nail bomb detonated as she was leaving the Manchester Arena.

“RIP my darling precious gorgeous girl Olivia Campbell taken far far too soon, go sing with the angels and keep smiling, mummy loves you so much," she posted on Facebook.

Olivia's boyfriend Lewis Brierley has also revealed she texted him from the concert before the attack saying: “I'm having so much fun”.

The teen, who was a keen singer, sent the message at around 8.30pm, just before the pop star came on stage.

She was at the event with a friend, who survived the attack and is being treated in hospital.

Vigils have been held across the country to remember those killed in the bomb blast. A national minute's silence was held at 11 this morning.

A teenage couple who went missing after bombing have also to be confirmed dead.

Eight-year-old Saffie Roussos remains the youngest person confirmed killed in the attack by suicide bomber Salman Abedi.
