A series of images has revealed the aftermath of the explosion that erupted in Manchester Arena on Monday night, killing 22 and injuring dozens more.

Shocked young concert-goers can be seen being escorted away from the venue by police in the hours after the attack, while other photos show paramedics desperately trying to treat victims.

Several images also show people in the streets close to the Arena the morning after the explosion, who appear distressed and shaken by what happened the night before.

Children were among those killed, including the first-named victim 16-year-old Georgina Bethany Callander, who had tweeted that she was “so excited” to see the pop star just before the event.

Some 59 people were also injured in the blast as an explosion tore through fans leaving the concert, in what is the worst terror attack in the UK since 56 people were killed in the 7 July London bombings in 2005.

The attacks were condemned by Theresa May, who said the "cowardice of the attacker met the bravery of the emergency services and the people of Manchester."
