From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Police today named a 21-year-old man gunned down in a Belfast street as David Greer, of Robena Court.
He was found lying on a pavement after being shot in the chest in Mountcollyer Street at around 9.45pm last night.
Police had been called to the area after reports of a disturbance in nearby Mileriver Street.
The shooting occurred near the Limestone Road, which divides loyalist and nationalist areas of the city, but security sources said the killing did not appear to be sectarian.
RUC Inspector Bob Torrens said "it is much, much too early to say what the motive for this murder would be.
"We are very, very keen to hear from people in the area here who heard or saw anything suspicious and we would ask them to get in contact with police at York Road immediately."
