The victim was outside Scott's Hotel in Beddau, near Pontypridd, South Wales, when he was struck by the vehicle last night.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "A male in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene.
"He was in collision with an ambulance, travelling in the general direction of Talbot Green."
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened just after 7.30pm, to contact them on 01656 655555.
