Disturbing moment masked man shocks woman on bus in Sheffield

A woman endured the "creepiest bus journey" of her life when a man in a white mask began asking her personal questions.

The 22-year-old was travelling on the 120 bus in Sheffield last week, when the stranger started asking her name and where she lived.

“Watch out when you’re on the bus alone, girls," the woman, who does not wish to be named, wrote as she posted a video of incident on Facebook in which the man can be seen turning towards her and revealing his masked face.

“I want women and young girls to know that they need to be careful when travelling alone in the dark on public transport," she added. “I really, really hope that people do not harass or show aggression towards the man, I think he just needs help and someone to explain to him how frightening this was for me and would be for any young woman.”

After posting the video, she said had "lots of hate and backlash", but insisted she did not regret it.

"The issue here isn’t how I responded to the incident, it’s that the incident occurred in the first place," she wrote.

She said she hoped the man would learn from the incident and she did not want others to think badly of him.

Social media users were quick to draw comparisons between the man and a masked character in a recent episode of the BBC drama Luther, who attacked a woman on a bus.

"So creepy," one wrote.

Others compared the man to the character No Face, from the 2001 film Spirited Away.
