The latest Google Doodle gets into the Halloween spirit with an addictive game you can play in your browser.

Similar to surprise global hit Flappy Bird, the game sees a witch fly up and down to collect as much candy as possible, while dodging crows and ghosts.

Players join one of four witch teams, competing to add their scores to the team's global score.

Halloween and similar festivals are celebrated across the world towards the end of October.

The occasion originates from the ancient Gaelic harvest festival Samhain, which marked summer's end and was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

It was believed that evil spirits would stalk the land to damage crops and trick the living. It was also thought to be a time when Druids could make predictions about the future.

These days, Halloween has become more commercial. This year's event could be worth as much as £400m to retailers, according to City AM.
