Young girl, six, dies after being hit by car in Slough
Thames Valley Police say victim was trying to cross the road at the time of the collision
A six-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car while crossing the road in Slough.
The child suffered serious head injuries in the collision with a white Volkswagen Passat on Friday evening, Thames Valley Police said.
She was taken to Wexham Park Hospital for treatment but sadly died the same day.
The driver stopped at the scene but has not been arrested.
“This was a tragic incident in which a six-year-old girl has died,” said Sergeant Darren Brown, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “Her next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
The incident happened on a dual carriageway close to the city centre.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: ”The victim, a six-year-old girl, is believed to have been crossing the road when she was in collision with a white Volkswagen Passat, which stopped at the scene.”
Officers issued an appeal for witnesses and for dashcam footage from motorists who were in the area at the time.
