From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 15-year-old, from Middlesex, was playing in the lake at Cotswold Water Park at 3.45pm on Sunday when her parents lost sight of her.
A boy playing with a football in the lake is believed to have pulled her out of the water and a lifeguard then carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until paramedics arrived, Gloucestershire Police said.
The girl was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire, where she was in a "critical" condition in intensive care today.
Cotswold Water Park covers 140 lakes, set in 40 square miles of countryside.
The girl was playing in a part of the water park called the Cotswold Country Park and Beach in Ashton Keynes, Wilts.
Officers urged the young man who helped save her to contact them on 0845 090 1234.
