Fifteen men apparently started shouting homophobic abuse outside a pub in Portsmouth.
The exact details of the attack have not been revealed but a group of eight women were apparently singing outside the pub when they faced the alleged assault.
Five of the women sustained injuries and one of the victims was hit so hard she lost seven of her front teeth and her jaw was dislocated.
“They would not stop hitting her. There were children there and the women were begging them to stop,” one of the victims told the Portsmouth News.
“It was like a riot from their side,” she said.
One of the victim’s sisters, who witnessed the attack, said the men targeted the oldest woman, who is believed to be 32.
“The men had got off the girls but they were still hitting the older woman, I’d say at least 20 or 30 times. I was begging them to stop. It wasn’t until they heard the sirens that they threw her and ran off,” she said.
Hampshire police confirmed they were investigating the incident and four men had been arrested so far in connection with the incident.
