Four people were killed and another four injured in a head-on collision in West Bromwich in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The crash between two cars, in which a young girl and three other people were injured, killed three women aged 28, 35 and 40. A man aged 21 died in hospital later in the morning.

West Midlands Police said the man who died in the accident, close to a bridge over the Walsall Canal, was a passenger in a Citroen Saxo, which collided with a Ford Fiesta in Greets Green Road at about 12.45am.

Each vehicle was carrying four people when the crash happened, killing the 40-year-old woman travelling in the Saxo and two other women travelling in the Fiesta. Four other people survived the crash, near an industrial estate.
