A elderly woman is believed to be trapped underneath a bus in the city centre of Bath.

Emergency services have been called to the scene on James Street West, near the Westgate Buildings in the centre of Bath.

The area has been cordoned off.

Police confirmed that an elderly couple were involved in a collision with a vehicle, but said they could not release any further details at present.

The elderly lady trapped under the bus is now in critical condition at Southmead Hospital.

Police have advised that motorists should to avoid the area.
