A teenager has died after falling ill at the dance music festival Creamfields.

Police were notified by medical staff at the festival site that the 19-year-old man required medical attention in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He had been seen looking unwell by security staff patrolling the site and died after being taken to Warrington District General Hospital.

Cheshire Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

His family have been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, they added.

The cause of the man’s death is not known but Creamfields warned that there are “extra strong MDMA pills in circulation” at the festival.

Police working at the site also advised festivalgoers to stay hydrated and seek medical attention if they feel unwell.

Detective Inspector Alistair Hinze said: “A file will be prepared for the coroner and our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.”

A spokesperson for Creamfields said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of this tragic accident. We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones and we continue to work closely with the authorities.”

The man from Warrington, is the second teenager to die at a UK music festival this weekend after a 17-year-old girl died at Leeds Festival yesterday from a suspected drugs overdose.

In that case, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.

Creamfields is one of the UK’s largest music festivals and featured performances from Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers this year.
