Only one in four people have had their “Christmas wish” come true, according to a new poll.

The survey of 2,000 British adults found 23 per cent would like to make something their loved ones hope for come true at Christmas but have not been able to do so yet.

For 47 per cent of respondents, money is the main factor holding them back. One fifth said it was due to a lack of time.

Nineteen per cent said they had struggled to give their friends and family something they really want at Christmas due to physical distance.

Three quarters of the respondents thought Christmas is about creating memories with family and friends.

“Every year, we bring hundreds of thousands of people together over the festive period to share those special Christmas moments," said Chris Hardy, managing director of National Express Coach, which commissioned the survey.

“We’re looking to bring people together to help make a special, unforgettable Christmas moment.”

When asked what would make their Christmas wish come true this year, participants often said gathering their family under one roof.
