Four children suffered hypothermia after being locked in a refrigerated lorry in a failed attempt to enter the country, the UK Border Force said.
Officers working in Dunkirk, France, found the children, aged from nine to 16, trapped in temperatures of -2C in the trailer.
They were among a group of four Afghans and three Iranians who were found last Friday in a Slovakian-registered lorry used to transport soft cheese. It was due to board a ferry for Dover and was bound for Milton Keynes – which would have left the stowaways in the trailer for another seven hours.
