Asda was forced to apologise to customers yesterday after a fault with its website resulted in £75 being discounted from shoppers' online bills.
The offer was open to every first-time online shopper nationwide on Saturday night and word quickly spread about the price cut.
Early on Sunday morning, some customers who had taken advantage of the deal were informed they would either have to pay the full price for their shopping or cancel the order and return it to the store.
A spokeswoman for Asda said the offer had only been on the website for a short period. She added: "We're only dealing with a very small number of customers and we're doing everything we can to contact them, before delivery, to apologise and explain."
