Striking baggage handlers at a city airport have gone back to work, it was confirmed today.
About 150 staff at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport had been on all-out strike since 20 August in a row over redundancies.
But after talks between employer Servisair, the GMB union and industrial peacemaker Acas on Bank Holiday Monday, workers returned at 4am yesterday.
GMB union officer Eddie Parker said a compromise deal was reached, with the company withdrawing the threat of 23 compulsory redundancies.
Instead, voluntary redundancy packages will be offered.
Also, proposed changes to terms and conditions of a further 27 employees at the airport were also withdrawn, he said.
