Former armed robber finds success as writer after tuition in jail

John Williams, 42, a former convict who wrote a six-part series about prison life for Radio 4, playing the clarinet in rehearsals at Brighton for one of his plays. The BBC is to publish his autobiography, Silver Threads, covering his change from a life of crime.
