AHarley Street rheumatologist yesterday issued a High Court writ seeking to recover pounds 1m in damages from the Government.

Dr Anthony Goldstein, 40, says he has suffered financially because of the Government's failure to implement the 1975 EC medical directives. As a result, hundreds of doctors 'have effectively been stopped from being able to practise as specialists in our respective fields'.
