David Cameron is reportedly planning to return to the volcanic resort of Lanzarote via Ryanair for his Easter getaway.

The Prime Minister is due to fly out to a resort in the Canary Islands using the budget airline later this month, according to Spanish media reports.

The Cameron family previously visited Lanzarote for their Easter getaway in 2014, when he was stung by a jellyfish while swimming in the sea on the volcanic island.

Mr Cameron and his wife, Samantha, were also snapped enjoying a coffee in a café by the beach of the popular resort of Teguise, which was once the capital of the island.

During their summer break the following year in Portugal, celebrating the Conservative’s first parliamentary majority in nearly two decades, the PM had to seek medical treatment for a case of swimmer’s ear – after suffering with a case of otitis.

According to the NHS, otitis is a condition that causes inflammation of the ear canal. It is often referred to as swimmer’s ear because exposure to water can make the ear canal more vulnerable to becoming inflamed.

On his return leg of the journey the Prime Minister was snapped on an Easjet flight tucking into a box of paprika-flavoured Pringles. A 16-year-old on the flight tweeted the moment along with the words: "The Prime Minister was 3 seats away from me eating Paprika Pringles. Help me."

Lanzarote has been a regular holiday destination for several of the world’s political leaders – including Vaclav Havel, the former President of the Czech Republic, and the former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Downing Street would not confirm or deny the report to The Independent.

"We wouldn’t outline the Prime Minister’s travel plans so far in advance," a spokesman told the Local.

"Arrangements are made public in the normal way at the beginning of the week."
