Anne Born was born in Sussex, educated at Copenhagen and Oxford universities. She taught English and Scandinavian at Oxford and Cambridge, was writer in residence at Barnstaple Library, and Kingsbridge Library, and is a WEA tutor lecturing for Exeter University extra-mural classes.
