Woman’s body found after midnight in the street in Rugby

Warwickshire Police have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious last night to come forward

A woman’s body has been found in the street in Rugby, Warwickshire.

A member of the public called the police after discovering the body at around 12.15am today, at which point officers sealed off the scene and closed parts of both James Street and Albert Street.

Warwickshire Police has issued an appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area last night or early this morning to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “The area around the scene is currently cordoned off to allow officers to conduct an investigation, but the roads are expected to be reopened later this morning.”

Police said that a post mortem would be carried out this afternoon, at which point more details may be available about what happened just after midnight last night.

Anyone with information was asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101.
