Woman berates and swears at Asian cashier
A woman was caught on camera racially abusing a post office employee is to be investigated by police.
The footage, which was recorded in a post office in the north London borough of Camden, shows the woman berating and swearing at an Asian cashier.
She can be heard in the video telling the 53-year-old employee to “go back to your own country”.
Then as she walks away is seen to gesture towards him and ask: “What woman would want to look at that?”.
The woman added: “Make sure you post my cards, otherwise I’ll come back and get a refund, you fat Paki c****. Go back to your own country, yeah, you’re not wanted here. You fat motherf***** Paki! Ugly motherf*****!”
Police are now investigating the footage and have spoken to the victim, who has said he does not wish to pursue any of the allegations.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said it was "committed to tackling hate crime in all its forms and we have long since recognised the impact of hate crime on communities."
They added: "Victims of hate crime can be assured that they will be taken seriously by the police.
“We work closely with organisations representing different faiths regarding hate crime issues.
"We are acutely aware that all areas of hate crime are still under reported and we are encouraged that more people feel confident to report racial and religious hate crimes, regardless if this is direct to police or via a third party or online,"
