Monday 28 September 2009 02:37 BST

A woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a one-year-old girl was rescued from a smoke-filled house where it is alleged that no adults had been present.

The baby was found by 49-year-old Rob Sullivan, a neighbour, in an bedroom at the house in Bristol yesterday after smoke emanated from the kitchen. The woman, thought to be the baby's mother, was later detained by police.
