We're getting closer to new inquiry, says Doreen Lawrence

Doreen Lawrence said only another public inquiry would provide answers about alleged police corruption during the original botched investigation of her son's murder.

Home Secretary Theresa May has ordered a leading barrister to carry out a review following complaints by the family that corruption was in part responsible for the failure to bring any of Stephen Lawrence's killers to justice for nearly two decades. A previous public inquiry said it had found no evidence of corruption.

"For me it's a stepping stone into having an inquiry," she told the BBC's Desert Island Discs

Gary Dobson and David Norris, were jailed for life in January, the only two members of the racist gang convicted over the attack.
