Warrant issued for arrest of former racing driver Irvine
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Eddie Irvine, the former Formula One driver, after he was caught speeding on a scooter with no licence and no insurance.
The four-time Grand Prix winner, 38, was arrested by police on 24 July for driving at more than 30mph on a scooter through Hyde Park in London. He was charged with excess speed, no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The facts were proved in his absence at a court hearing last month and he was due to appear before Bow Street magistrates' court yesterday for sentencing but failed to attend. When the court heard there was no contact from Irvine, a warrant with bail was issued for his arrest.
