Kiara Moore: Two-year-old girl dies after ‘stolen' car ploughs into river in Wales
She had been due to celebrate her third birthday next week
A two-year-old child has died after an allegedly stolen car was driven into a river in Wales with her inside.
The vehicle was said to have been stolen from Cardigan with Kiara Moore in one of the passenger seats before being crashed into the River Teifi in Cardigan.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the car was reported missing at 3.30pm yesterday and found by the force at 5.11pm.
Kiara was rescued from the wreckage and taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where medics were unable to save her life.
She had been due to celebrate her third birthday next week.
Numerous Facebook posts claimed the silver Mini had been stolen from town with Kiara in it.
Jet Moore, the girl's father, said in a post on the network: "Thank you all for your help this evening. A mega thank you the officers who jumped in the river and the rest of the emergency services for all they did.
“Unfortunately Kiara had an amazing but short life."
Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
