Two men aged 19 and 20 were found hanged today near a clinic.

Officers were alerted to the incident close to the Brockwell Medical Centre, in Cramlington, Northumberland, at about 9.15am.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "On arrival, officers found the bodies of two men aged 19 and 20, who were pronounced dead at the scene."

A police source said the men were found hanging, and that no one else was being sought in connection with their deaths.

The men were not taken to hospital, a North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

"They were pronounced dead on the scene," she said.

Bob Dunning, practice manager at the Brockwell Medical Group, said: "We have seen police cars and an ambulance but we are in the dark about what has happened.

"The clinic backs on to some wooded areas and fields and I presume they were found on one of the footpaths around here."

Mr Dunning said there was no suggestion the men had a link to the clinic.

The bodies were found in dense woodland behind the medical centre.

Police had cordoned off a footpath leading from the centre to a nearby housing estate but it was later lifted.

Dog walker Michelle Johnson, 43, said: "I walk down there with my dog but I didn't see anything.

"There's always kids in there playing. It's really sad."
