Two shot in city street

Two men were recovering in hospital today after they were shot in a city street.

West Midlands Police said the men, aged 33 and 23, were not in a life threatening condition after the shooting in Birmingham last night.

The scene, on Church Vale, Handsworth, was cordoned off and forensic examination was under way today.

A police spokeswoman said the offender, whose sex was not known, fled on foot after firing the shots shortly after 8pm.
