Trucker killed in motorway 'hit-and-run'
A lorry driver was killed today on a motorway hard-shoulder in a suspected hit-and-run collision, police said.
Police are treating the area on the M5 southbound, between junctions 14 and 15 in south Gloucestershire, as a crime scene and have closed two lanes.
The driver was killed at around 7am when he got out of his cab on the hard shoulder and was hit by another lorry and possibly two others. None of them stopped.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said it is possible the other drivers may not be aware what happened.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
