Three held over man's murder
Three people were being questioned today in connection with the murder and abduction of a man found collapsed in the street suffering from fatal injuries.
Syed Abbass, 24, was found lying partially clothed near waste ground in Flanders Road, East Ham, east London, on the morning of 7 September.
Hours earlier a member of the public called police reporting he had seen a man being beaten and dragged into a white Audi A3 in nearby Earlham Grove, Forest Gate.
Mr Abbass was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he died on 8 September.
A post-mortem examination revealed he had died of a head injury.
The Met police confirmed yesterday three men had been arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of Mr Abbass.
They could not provide ages for the men but said they were being held at east London police stations.
Police found the burnt-out Audi in Redbridge, east London, several days later. The car belonged to Mr Abbass.
It is thought he had been visiting his sister in Forest Gate before returning in his Audi to his home in Earlham Grove just after 3am.
As he was walking he was grabbed by two men and severely beaten in the street, a Met police spokesman said.
He was then dragged into the Audi which was driven off by a third suspect.
