Terror suspect's family: You've got wrong man
The two brothers arrested on suspicion of planning a chemical terrorist atrocity protested their innocence last night as the police were given more time to question them.
Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, and Abul Koyair, 20, were arrested during a raid on their east London home on Friday which involved 250 police officers.
Mr Kahar was shot in the shoulder during the raid and is recovering under armed guard in the Royal London Hospital. His solicitor, Kate Roxburgh, said he was innocent and that police fired at him without warning. He was " lucky to be alive" she said.
Julian Young, acting for Mr Koyair, who is being held at Paddington Green police station, said: "My client denies any involvement in the commission, preparation, or instigation of terrorist offences and has maintained that position from the start."
A judge has authorised their detention up to Wednesday after which they must either be charged, released or a further period of detention applied for.
Meanwhile, Anti-Terrorist Branch officers carried out further searches at the brothers' work places in the Tottenham and Whitechapel areas of London yesterday. Scotland Yard refused to say if anything had been found at either the home address in Lansdown Road in Forest Gate, or the workplaces.
