Police said arrests not related in 'any way' to London Bridge terror attack
Counter-terrorism police have arrested a man and woman in Dover on suspicion of offences related to Syria.
The 32-year-old man and the 31-year-old woman were arrested on 7 December on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorist offences, police said. The man was also held on suspicion of funding or supporting terrorism.
Detectives from West Midlands counter-terrorism unit detained the pair as part of an “intelligence-led” operation.
Police said the arrests were not linked in “any way” to the London Bridge terror attack on 29 November.
The investigation was already underway prior to the deadly attack in the capital, detectives added.
Police said: “A 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested in Dover.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorism offences and funding/supporting terrorism.
“The woman was arrested on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorism offences.
Both suspects have been taken to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning.
